Get Candle Wax off Clothes!

2 chapel weddings ago I blew out altar candles instead of using our candle snuffer!  Big mistake – apparently, some of the wax blew back on black tunic and of course, stuck to it!  After researching how to get the candle wax off my clothes, I knew I would be using an iron to do it, but wasn’t sure what went between the cloth and the iron.  After googling my dilemma, I used a small brown paper bag – you put your iron on medium heat setting, while it’s warming up – you can scrape off any wax residue that might come off – then put the brown bag on top of the waxed clothes and press a few seconds, then a few seconds more – I repeated for the couple of spots that remained, and Poof, the wax seemed to  disappear.    Using my fingernail, I scraped about the area to see if any residual wax remained, and it seems gone!  Yeah, I’m so excited!  Now, I will just hand wash my black tunic, and I’m ready to wear it at the next wedding.  Very simple, and it worked!

March 6th Wedding at the Chapel

A beautiful yet intimate wedding ceremony this past weekend at our Virginia Beach Wedding Chapel.  The groom selected the Virginia Beach Wedding Chapel because of our high tech live web cam – the Bride’s family was in Vietnam and a few in Pennsylvania, and  the Groom’s family were in Pennsylvania and York.  It was so neat to watch the family members get online and see one by one they log into the online wedding chapel ceremony.  At the conclusion, the Bride and Groom waved goodbye into the camera to their family who couldn’t make the ceremony.  Monday, Bruce did a little editing with captions, and re-uploaded the video for “live web streaming” of the ceremony – it’ll be online until April 15th.  The couple drove down to the beach from Williamsburg!  Thank you to all our couples for the confidence you have in our skills – we do our best to make your day memorable!

Maddie’s in Las Vegas!!

Woo hoo – Maddie’s in Las Vegas with her significant other and friends – attending the 311 concert at the Mandalay Bay resort.  I’ve been trying to do her job and my job – boy it’s tough to keep up with the phone calls, answer all the questions, book weddings, meet clients for appointments, show the chapel, process orders and payments, etc…..  Kudos to Maddie – she does an awesome job running our office – I miss her so much and can’t wait to see her this weekend! She even sent me a phone pic of the wedding chapel at her hotel!  Thanks to all who have worked with me this week.  I know you’ll love having her back next week!!

No Show Appointments

Hoping each potential client keeps their appointment with me – after enthusiastic pursuit of our services and numerous emails, my new policy is I won’t meet anyone without them giving me a phone number in case of emergency.  Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I do have a busy life, and I also pick up my grandson Mikel from the bus stop each day - I work very hard to work my schedule with those schedules of my potential brides and grooms – I understand things happen – Murphy’s law – or maybe you have decide to go elsewhere - PLEASE if you have made an appointment with me, and change your mind, or can’t make it – please call the office or shoot me an email and let me or Maddie know – don’t stand me up – I drive 10 miles to the beach to meet you – always getting there early – waiting half hour past your appointment time – only to be stood up with a no show appointment, then drive home.  So please let us know if you won’t make it – I would really appreciate it – and will certainly understand!  It’s only proper ettiquette!!

Renovations Underway!

Renovation underway!  Got the electric turned – so some power was a relief! Bruce opened up the closet door access from the current wedding chapel into the new wedding office – and I moved some of my beach wedding dress design samples over to the new hallway that’s visible from the Cypress. I also hanged up our wedding banner featuring a couple who sent in their photo some years back – it set the mood and i feel good kharma each time I bring more things over.  Alot of wall patching to do from the mega artist screw holes – bring over some paint and get started – then order carpet – we want it to be the most comfy and electic room a bride and groom could enter – of course on our budget!  Looks very promising!

Wedding Chapel Addition and Renovations!

We’re so excited to announce that we’re leasing space next door to our current wedding chapel location, so that we can expand our wedding office into a large roomy tv viewing room / office, and a perfect place for the groom and his guys and family to gather if they don’t want to wait in the chapel.  I’m also going to be adding my photography studio in the back area – so we’re all very excited – stay tuned for updates as we progress!  Right now, the place is a real dump!  Victoria

ABC’s THE BACHELOR WEDDING Monday March 8th 2010

Yes, I enjoyed watching this season’s “The Bachelor”.  I really thought Jake and Allie wwould be perfect together, but we know what happened there.  We’ll be able to watch Allie on this season’s “the Bachlorette.”  I wonder who’s paying her bills during her absence from her job?   After Allie left, I really saw him with Tenley, but everyone must follow their heart, so alas, Jakes proposed to Vienna.  Once you bungie jump with someone, and hang upside dangling by a cord when you are scared to death, and that person who dangles with you is your rock to get your through it, well ……   her inner strength probably countered his weakness.  We know what happened from there!

But be sure to watch this Monday night, March 8th , when former Bachelor,  Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney, walk down the aisle.  Share a dramatic new chapter of their love story with millions of fans when ABC televises their wedding on The Bachelor: Jason and Molly’s Wedding.

Coming home from Chile after earthquake!

We are happy to announce that Mike will be returning home to the US this Sunday after his ordeal surviving the earthquake in Chile.  What an experience he encountered, from being shaken out of bed, driving east with strangers to avoid possibly being swallowed up by the predicted tsunami, to waiting for military relief efforts which recently took him from Concepcion to Santiago – he returns to his wife and family, safe and sound this Sunday, we can’t wait to see him.  It was awesome just to hear his voice the other day!

Chile Earthquake

Awoke this morning – Saturday – 6am with a phone call from the wife of a guy who works for my husband.  The guy (employee) has been in Chile for 3 weeks working on a new ship, and he was  installing the bridge equipment.  Anyway, we awoke to news that an 8.8 magnitude earthquake had hit the Conception, Chile coastal region and that my husband’s employee was in jeopardy.

It was 6 am est and the quake hit early am while everyone was sleeping.  My husand’s guy we’ll refer to him as “M”, felt the tremors, everything was shaking and falling around him.  He left the hotel he was staying at with a Finish couple he had met earlier, and they drove east towards the mountains of Argentina.  Listening to the radio, and communicating with my husband via Blackberry text, he kept in touch with his wife and Bruce *( my husband).  As the day unfolded, awaiting for the predicted tusnami, M said he and the couple drove to the mountains about 2 hours away, and waited for news. Later in the day, M texted that he had returned to his hotel in Conception, and that the tsunami had only been a 6 meter wave had hit Talcahuano – next town about 10 minutes away – so, M is now back at his hotel.   His wife is relieved, but company attempts are underway to extracate M from the Conception, Chile region – keep in mind, the airport is closed down for 24 hours.  We”ll try to keep you posted -  but all is well in M’s world!
